Squash is a fast-paced indoor racquet sport played by two players (singles) or four players (doubles) in a four-walled court. Players take turns hitting a small rubber ball against the front wall, aiming to outmaneuver their opponent.
Modern squash uses point-a-rally scoring to 11 points. Every rally counts as a point, regardless of who served. If the score reaches 10–10, a player must win by two points. Amatuer games are typically scored to 15.
A standard squash court is 9.75 meters long and 6.4 meters wide, with a front wall height of 4.57 meters. It has marked service boxes and a tin at the bottom of the front wall.
The ball must hit the front wall above the tin and below the outline.
After hitting the front wall, the ball can strike side or back walls.
Players must allow their opponent a fair shot (no blocking).
The ball can bounce once before being returned.
Squash balls vary by speed and bounce, indicated by colored dots:
Double yellow dot: Slow, for advanced players
Single yellow dot: Medium, intermediate players
Green/Blue dot: Fast, beginners
